About us....

My name is Clemency Bedford and I am the owner and cheif artist at Fantasy Faces 4u. I started facepainting professionally at the end of 2014 and, since then, have been lucky enough to win or place in several national facepainting competitions, have my work published in the press, as well as painting for some well known organisations, most notably Great Ormond Street Hospital. I am also a co founder and organiser of the Bath Bodyart Weekend.

My proudest role, however, is as a mum, and live with my family, and various furry friends, in North Wiltshire.

I come from a Fine Art background, but discovered my love of facepainting and bodyart quite late in life...

I have always been creative, and originally read Fine Art at what is now Middlesex University, (those who are old enough to remember will know it was then Middlesex Polytechnic, the art department of which was an amalgamation of the prestigious Hornsey College of Art). Although I never gave up Art, and dabbled with various crafts here and there, as happens to so many creatives, life slowly moved in other directions.

Fast forward 20 years and I found myself a mother to a young daughter, who, on every family outing, would beg to have her face painted.....and each time, as I stood dutifully at her side, I would gaze at the paints, admiring the vibrant colours, and think "I want to do that"!

I bought my first set of paints in time for my daughter's Frozen themed birthday party, watched some YouTube tutorials and started to practice...

A few months later I went to my first facepainting event, the 2015 UK Paradise Jam and entered the "Newcomers" class of the Open Facepainting competition. To my amazement I won the competition, and that was it....I was hooked!

Bath Bodyart Weekend

Bath Bodyart Weekend and its offshoot, Bath Bodyart Collective, are fast becoming two of my proudest achievments in the bodyart world. As co-founder and organiser of the only dedicated face and bodyart festival in the UK, we are now into our third year and the event has grown year on year. We formed the Collective to build on this success and organise side projects, including several collaborative photo shoots and, hopefully, a trip to Bulgaria to paint for Plovdiv 2019 European Capital of Culture!

And the rest...

My work has been published in online editions of The Gazette and Herald and Illusion magazine. It was also used for the promotional artwork for the Bath Bodyart Weekend.

Since starting Fantasy Faces 4u I have been fortunate enough to work for some well known organisations, including the Sun newspaper's "Perks" film premieres, I paint for the GWH annual family fun days and do several events a year for Wiltshire Council, including the annual Wealth of Wiltshire Christmas Fayre. But probably my proudest moments were being asked to paint at the Halloween and Christmas parties for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children.
